Budget hearings give schools, colleges and units an opportunity to communicate in person their current financial status and year end projections, as well as discuss any issues or concerns they may have. It also allows the opportunity to convey important information that may impact budgets. Budget hearings are a collaborative effort with units, the Budget Office, the Provost's Office and the Executive Vice President of Administration and CFO. They are typically held in late February through mid March, although specific dates vary.
Prior to budget hearings, units should have a good understanding of their needs and expectations for the year as well as any concerns ready for discussion. They should also make sure all accounts and any issues that exist are cleaned up as much as possible so reporting is accurate and easy to follow at the meeting.
